Arno Henschel (born 1897 in Görlitz, died March 1945 near Posen) was a German painter of the "New Objectivity.” Unlike many other artists, Henschel did not paint in a social and
time-critical manner, but in the 1930s tended towards a poetic view of
landscape, people and plants.
Henschel didn't adhere to national-socialism and was disliked by Goebbels. He was nevertheless allowed to work during the Nazi era. He fought in the German Army and was killed during a reconnaissance flight in 1945.
I find a resemblance between Dame mit Maske and a well known picture by Christian Schad, another painter of the New Objectivity, a work of 1927:
