In 1927, he moved to Germany where he joined the Bauhaus School at Dessau. From 1928 to 1932, he took classes with Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky, Joost Schmidt and Lyonel Feininger. Not having the means to pay for the lessons, he was provided with free meals.
In 1932 he married Gitel Golde, a classmate at the Bauhaus. In 1933 they settle in Paris.
During the German occupation, he worked for the Resistance by forging identity documents.
He died in 1995 in Paris.
